Enter a dwarf monk and fellow path finder
Hagrim Heartstrike: Known simply as Sits
Born unto a line of Dwarven Warriors, whose heroism and martial prowess was without peer for generations within the Dwarven Realms. Hagrim was the 3rd son of Felgrim “Death Hand” Heartsrike. Following ancient family tradition Felgrim placed the haft of “Trollbane” the ceremonial warhammer of the Heartstrike Clan into his newborn sons small pink hand, which was still smeared in his mothers blood. The boy child began to wail piteously when the haft touched his hand. A bad omen; no boy child had ever reacted in this manner, still Felgrim carried on with the family birth rite, placing a tankard of beer to the boy’s lips which he gulped down greedily. At least something had gone right thought Felgrim. This omen however had indeed been a foretelling of doom. All though Hagrim had quickly mastered traditional dwarven skills, he just could just not learn to wear armour or wield a shield and war hammer together. Hagrim could barely stand upright in armour. Yet, whilst out of armour he was more agile than a mountain goat and his nimble fingers could work the most delicate jewellery. During a sparring bout with his fathers shield brother, he tripped, staggered a few feet and then fell face first into a weapons rack. When he emerged he was terribly scarred. The scar ran in a jagged line from below his right eye to the side of his jaw below his mouth. His hair never grew back there. The incident was the final blow to young Hagrim’s ego. Although he was accepted as Jewellers Apprentice, a fitting and proud craft for a young Dwarf reaching manhood, he still felt as though he had failed his family and ancestors. As he had not been accepted into the Iron Guard, as a shield bearer. He was the first Heartstrike, in fifteen generations to fail. With this failure gnawing at his soul, he fled his family and clan. Shaving off his beard and hair, just leaving the Mohawk of dishonour he vowed he would only return to his family and re grow his hair when he became a warrior of unparalleled ability. During his life with clan he had heard the stories told by merchants of warriors hailing from the Far East who fought with nothing but their feet and hands. Hagrim was determined to find them and discover if he could learn their way of fighting. It might allow him to return to his family in honour. After five years of travelling he finally came upon a monastery, within its walls, he had been informed by a local farmer were a group of monks, feared for their combat skills. However time had taken its toll on the young dwarf; over the years he had become more and more desperate to regain his honour and family. To the extant that he slipped into a mindless rage of determination to succeed. He pounded on the gates to the monastery, demanding entrance and training, until his fists were bloody and bruiser. Of course the peaceful monks refused this demented creature entrance and ignored his presence. The days and weeks passed with the young dwarf still screaming for entrance. Then a merchant visited the monastery to trade with the monks for their herbal remedies. In his crazed state Hagrim attacked the merchant, as he was entering the monastery. The monks finally had to act, a white robed monk, slammed an open palm into Hagrims chest and he fell unconscious. He awoke sometime later bound in rope, but still near the monastery’s gate on a small mound of stones. The mindless rage he had fallen into had passed but he still remembered his shameful actions in trying to see the monks and the assault he had carried out on the innocent merchant. He vowed then and there he would never attack another being first or tell any falsehoods, in order to expunge his guilt. Realising that he would never win the trust of the monks be words alone, action would be required. Escaping his bonds he walked to the gates, he begged the monks to forgive him his actions and asked that they consider taking him in after he had demonstrated his remorse. Turning on his heel, without waiting for a response he returned to the mound of stones. Fashioned a comfortable position and sat down and waited. He survived for a further five years by drinking the water collected on the rocks and by eating the mosses and lichens growing on their surface. By sitting there peacefully, meditating he realised how it was his prideful and foolish actions that had lead him to this place. Then one day he finally realised he could never carry on with his life unless he truly forgave himself for failing to enter the Iron Guard. The depth of the revelation stunned his mind and he fell into unconscious. This time when he awoke, he lay in a hot steaming bath, looking into the face of a smiling monk. His life as Hagrim Heartstrike was over, but just beginning for Sits for an Eternity.
The days have stretched into weeks after the demise of Barl Breakbones, a detchment of soldiers are now manning the Fort , and a group of mages from the black circle are now manning the dam. The characters have been getting themselves ready for a trip into the wyverns their ultimate destinataion is of course the spindlehorn.
A messenger arrives from Magnimar a young monk called Sits deliveres them a letter. The letter is from Cage Blundde the teams venture captain , it explains that the 6 pointed star the characters need to summon the sphinx , is deep within the wyverns in a monastery that was once manned for a dwarven monks there is a waystone with a compass attached, this waystone will show the characters to the monastery.. The messenger is assigned to there team , they introduce each other in the pub , and goto bed, during the night Corik is woken by a bloated blood fly eating his face !! The rest of the group are woken by similar flys , the monk opens his door and is faced with a winged creature.
They have seen these thing before before ? Yes at a tower in the wood, Iron briar was connected , is he here now ?, it turns and make it way down the stairs, Sits opens all the doors and makes sure the patrons are ok!!!
The group gather in the corridor , they must make a decision, fight or flee , from the way these demons communicate with each other by a series of click, their could be up to 4 of them in the village !!! If they are going to run , they better make sure they have the waystone and all there gear packed up, oh yeh who has the waystone? where is it ? Not left in a room i hope ?
